Emergence of Complexity

 

The diagrams you will see here represent the principle mechanism of how complexity arises in the universe.   There are other related dynamics and mechanisms (fractal, eg) but this is the most important one, for it plays a direct role in every level of existence you are familiar with.  It is how you function in the world -- with the world -- physically, mentally, in all ways.   This doesn't mean we are "mechanical" beings, I don't want to give that impression.  It is an instance/model "snapshot" of a rich and full dynamic process.   Like a picture of rivers.  The waters have power and grandeur.  There is felt energy in the flowing, nudged by gravity toward the oceans.  There is also tactile energy found in the refreshing sustenance of waters swallowed to quench a thirst.  There is the cycle of sun warmed evaporation, which brings beads of Gaian perspiration from the oceans, back to clouds, to mountain tops, to snows and rivers of the future, in rhythms of renewal.     Enactments upon enactments of plural coordinations  --  of the one simple relationship discussed here:  "interacting entropies".    It is the main (of several) techniques that existence uses in  the enactment of communication and potential . . . the "real" and meaningful aspects of Being . . . that builds Complex organizations.

Another way of relating to it is to think about automobiles.  Autos are used to get us to market, so that we can purchase food, that we bring home to sustain and nurture ourselves and our families.  We don't concern ourselves with the machinations of pistons, or energy transfers, or other workings in the engine or drive train.  We don't keep count of valve movements or gear ratios.   All those things are important . . . but primarily in that  -- when enacted smoothly together -- they enable us to do other things in life.  Just so with discussing this particular "mechanism" of Complexity.   It may or may not directly impact your life, or how you choose to do things in the world, but it will give you a more complete insight into what is going on inside you, us, and all around.   The relationships that are abundant in your lifespace.  How what you do impacts and affects others.  Sometimes in small ways, sometimes in large.   We are not existential isolates.   We are a marvelous plurality of extraordinary behaviors.   Important partners in a thriving communicating universe.

The larger spheres represent any two (or more) entities which can be assigned a distribution value in time and space.  That spatial and temporal distribution corresponds with an "entropy" value for that level of structure.  The smaller spheres represent subordinate factors which have a conditional existence in relation to the larger spheres.   Such factors may be absent from the larger system.  They may be pertinent only to one member of the larger system.  They may be present over significant space and time durations, involved with several members of the larger level.  They may even be quantum bootstrap events, in which minute particle-pairs stabilize to become nodal regions in which other entities and informations become sub-ordinate.   No matter what the case may be, most important is that base subordinate factors can be assigned varying temporal and spatial distribution values of their own ~ entropy values distinct from, yet interrelated with, the entropies of the larger order's membership.

The smaller - "inner order" -  entities can be anything . . . money & materials distributed in commerce. . . items tossed between one/several jugglers. . . a ball in a football or baseball game. . . electrons passed among atoms. . . words, ideas, glances,shared in conversation  . . . gravity passed between masses . . . . . the specific entities can be anything  --  as long as there is interactive relevance among a subsequent assembly of organization.

The entropies are opposite in gradient.   As one gets larger the other gets smaller, and vice versa.   As long as the probabilities of distribution of the sub-system among the larger agent membership is greater than zero, Complexity exists, and the relationship holds.


A  This symbol (meant to be a large Greek letter Pi) stands for the multiplicative statistics
function { a x b x c x .... n }.  In this formulation, any denominated component (in the small entropy assembly above, for example) can go to "zero" probability, but, rather than force the entire denominator function to zero also, merely resigns its presence.  The remaining factors maintain the impact of enforcing Complexity on the large-assembly referenced on the other side of the equal-sign.   For example, in any group of players or teams involved in constituting a complexity called "tournament", any one or several may resign or be removed from further activity, yet "tournament" as a complexity still exists, as long as competition, or its potential, continues.  Once all potential interactions or games falls to "zero" probability, the complexity ends.  It may be reconstituted as other conditions allow, but for the current status, it ceases.


The behaviors (distribution actions) of the larger order are affected by the distribution (behaviors) of the inner order.   Complexity arises in the universe as a direct consequence of this phenomenon.  Complexity is the result of communication probabilities "greater than zero" among membership of plural-bodied systems.

What binds unconnected activities into coordinated behaviors is having something in common, active sharing, where one member is responsive to other member(s) because of something communicated amongst them.  You might say that it is mutual (continued) enactments of Newton's 2nd law of thermodynamics (one half of the presented model).

The simplest example is when you do something.  Someone or something in the world is the recipient of that act -- the energy you enact goes somewhere, does something.   For however brief or long, or for whatever importance, you and that recipient can become bound as a transient or as a more permanent complexity  when it enacts a return communication that causes you to receive and respond -- act or behave in some way -- that you might not have, had the communication not occurred.  Your behavior space potential is altered by the interactions (the "Heisenberg Intersections"), as is it's.  Simply put, complexities arise instantaneously when the communication potentials are non-zero.  Conversely,  binding and complexity are lost or ended when any one of the transfer potentials moves to "zero".   It does not take massive iterations of a looped process -- the requirement stipulated by fractal complexity algorithms -- to enact primal complexity, it merely takes a recursion scenario . . .  a binary (or more) pattern,  an action/reaction, a quantum superpositioning, and even the orthogonal binding of electricity and magnetism.

Increased distribution (entropy) of the communication(s) corresponds with a focussing and negentropic binding -- reduced and narrowed group of behavior potentials -- of   yourself and the first recipient.  Of all possible actions/responses/behaviors you are capable of in your life, an interaction reduces, narrows and focusses the behavior field to just a fraction of the larger potential.

All things considered, we deal with what we are confronted with -- both in fact and in potentia.  And, we respond with whatever our structure and skills and knowledge and relationships and conditions allow.   Be we atom, molecule, cell, plant, mammal, member of society, corporation, country, or Gaia.     Be we quark, granite, tectonic plate, planetary body, celestial star, galactic wheel, or strand of cosmic plasma thousands of light years in reach and flow through the vastness.  We interact and function as piece and as whole, as conglomerate and as complication.   On many levels of behaviorally bound assemblies.  Within levels and up and down through the levels.  Unique behaviors underpinned by common relationships.   Tangible and intangible.   Figurative and fleeting. Temporary and enduring.  Behaviors companioned with behaviors.  Simple and yet textually rich at the same time.  

Eventually, this brings us to examining the next important part of how the universe is organized. To be whole holistic entities means maintenance and sustenance of potentia and the ability to continue.     That too must be representable by some shared relationship(s), processes, and dynamics, and indeed it is.   The Integrity Diagram.
