More and more I'm confronted with a planet full of thinkers who share much of the same general messages that I convey in my writings.  For one reason or another, most are more widely published than I am at the moment, so their names tend to come up in citations and references and quotes more than I.  That's ok.  What bothers me though, after looking into most everyone else's writings is that no one else is truly striking out in new conceptual directions for humanity, and for one reason or another, that was what I thought our era was to be noted for. 

Yes, the last hundred years saw some few profound idea shifts.  But there is something more to be accomplished, not yet attained.  Not even in the fields and subjects that claim so .. theoretical deep-cosmology, general systems theory, complexity and chaos, gaian ecology, human dynamics.

Part of my discomfort - I have to be candid - undoubtedly stems from my admiration of some of these more recent ideas, and my reluctance from wanting to nit-pick them based on Ceptual Philosophy notions.  There are wonderful people whom I highly esteem, who have taken up recently new ideas, championed them to the hilt, whereas I see the ideas as problematic. To make things worse, the notions have caught much of the popular imagination, so there is a literature explosion out there.   And I have to totally buck the popular trend.   Not only that, but I love science, I love math, and I stand at a moment in time when the poetic empathic literative qualities in me leave no alternative but to say to esteemed peers and friends .. that everything that you know, every proof and guarantee of knowledge that you have trust in, is not quite as accurate as you may believe them to be.

Your patterns and knowledge are not "wrong", they are simply a much smaller horizon than you imagined them to be.  There are other ways of doing things, figuring things out, arranging the connectedness of the universe.

Before I start laying out some of the details - the things I can't couch anymore even though to my way of thinking, I have explicitly written these details up, spread through various of my papers, publications, to date - I have to explain one quirk of why I overtly express some things and yet don't go into other 'completing details' at all.  Why, for example, I discuss certain relational dynamics pertaining to motivations, gradients of force, tropic tendencies, how complicated systems twine and transfer energy and meanings in different ways .. and yet do not go the full distance and use the current conventional 'language' that people think of first to describe such goings on:  mathematics.

Let me explain, because it's been a deliberate choice on my part. One of the dynamics I discovered early on about life and systems, organisms and organizations, is that existence thrives on required degrees of freedom and opportunity - behavior possibilities that aren't the typical ones usually engaged in.   "Exactly defined" beings, rigorously and 'perfectly' recurring systems, are really poorly integrated ones, not in tune with the majestic open infiniteness of Being.   We humans really know that, but our ego structures push us in another direction at  the same time.  There is strong competition to be THE one, THE person, to discover the new medical cure, invent the new invention, win the prize, solve the mystery, go or do where no one else has gone or done before.  There is glory, prestige and honor to the secured.    A deep personal (though, too, a 'social') satisfaction involved.

Oh, I'm in on that thinking too, make no mistake.  But, there is something more. And the only way I can express it is to have you relate to it personally, then scale it up to the world at large.  Consider the relation of parent and child.  Put yourself in either of these places - or in both, if you can.  Imagine a young person encountering this comment:  "Welcome to the world.  Millions of years of your thriving searching ancestors struggled to attain knowledge about the world ... what it is, why it is, how it is, and how it can 'best' function.  Well guess what?!   We did it last year.  We figured it all out.  Welcome to Utopia!  There is nothing left for you to do except ... LIVE.  Isn't that terrific?!?!    You can spend your entire existence simply amusing yourself.  (Well, if you want to know the truth, we checked your DNA, ran a full 100 year complexity analysis projection and we already know where you will be, when, and what you'll be doing for your entire life span.   Would you like to know now, or just wait for it to unfold the way we know it will be?  You fit so many of our equations and system requirements so perfectly, we're happy we birthed you, um, excuse us, we mean, "so happy you 'happened' to be born".  Here is your mantra.  Please repeat it every day. "I am a free independent human being.  I have volition and free will. There is so much to discover and learn and feel personal wonderment in the exploration.").  Your purpose is to - persist.  Everything else has been taken care of."

That's a little short story I remind myself of every so often.  And with it in mind, I live by one future oriented value.  I will NOT presume to live my children's lives for them.  I will teach, advise, and open opportunities for them, knowing that 'personal experience' is the most precious gift of Being. I will not accomplish so much, that that I diminish or encroach upon my children's lifespaces to accomplish groundbreaking achievements on their own.  What ever I know that I could offer my world companions, I will do only just as much as I see necessary (which is quite a bit) but will do less than I am fully capable of - leaving important crucial contributions for friends or next generations to add to the world.    This could smack of some kind of egotistic arrogance - but I can only tell you that I value other people's contributions and freedoms and right to experience true 'eureka' as I do my own. 

You see, I understand not just a new alternative version of how the universe functions - principles that tie together the essences of dimensions that progress up toward and on through the evanescences of human conceptual and inspirational motivations -  I also appreciate how such connections might be transcribed into specific mathematical descriptions.   And though I make every effort through my writings to describe the qualities and relational requirements these new mathematical functions should and must have, I'm being scrupulous to avoid designing them exactly.   Strange?  Foolish?  Possibly.   The thing is there are much smarter people than me who can take the insights and recognitions I'm diligently promoting and framing, and who will be able to formulate these new mathematical statements much better and completely than I ever could.  I have one role, among many.  To open a fresh window of comprehension about the nature of existence and possible new ways to express it, use it.

The mathematics is not sacrosanct to me.  I don't regard mathematical words to be 'the proof' and final ideal which current world science holds them up to be.  So I express what the relations are, and try to help people recognize the relations for themselves, without resorting to only hard science descriptions.  Because there is a true quality and meaning of the words .. "everything is connected".  It means that knowledge is conveyable in more than only one or even 'a few' ways.  I leave the details of defining the new mathematics specifically to others, if the world needs them.   It's more important to bring a conceptual appreciation to most everyone's mind about the relations of existence, than to rely on the rigid repetition of current style equations.

The superior mathematics will come when the math functions themselves are variable and open. When operations are defined that match the flexibility, indefiniteness, and transformative qualities of events that are infinitely open in many variable ways at the same time and where inner relations are soft and fuzzy - indefinite even though definitely connected.  There is a significant information-transformation operator which I've defined by conditions and relation (, 1992) which essentially notes that one and zero are identity states - not simply numerical 'numbers' - and that depending on the mathematical and event-conditional environment that one uses to consider .. the states (appreciated functionally as numerical values) are interchangeable.  That is an idea found no where in the current realm of mathematical 'truths'.  Yet I assert unequivocally, that the house of mathematics will be a house of paradoxes and insolubles until that is added, along with some other operators.

 

Let me tackle another 'truth' about less-than-sacrosanct conventional mathematics.    I don't concur that it is the language of the universe.   Mathematics is important, very important, I don't dis-value it for an instant.   But it seems to assume expressive capacities more than it's capable of.  It is indeed a road for discovery, but it's built upon events and experience and enactions, where non-applicable equations and possible relations litter the countryside.  I mean, to be honest, current mathematics is the residue of what matches with experience (even odd natured quantum mechanical and string theory relations), not the entire edifice of all possible mathematical relations. 

"E = mc²" could just as easily be to the third instead of second, or c equal to some other specific rate of progression through spacetime, in an alternative version of the universe.   The equations we hone in on do not define and prescribe the universe, they track it.    Depending on how well we design and construct the mathematics to chart the relational qualities we experience and find in the universe, such efforts are simply the measure of ... how well we design and construct a language that matches the behaviors of the universe.  No more, no less.  We are no where near showing, let alone being able to claim, that the math is the determiner of the phenomena.  We are no where near showing, let alone being able to claim, that quality Zed of existence coordinated with quality Mu of existence, must necessarily produce 'force' or time or place, with the resulting behaviors that come about when ten trillion of these interactive qualities combine.  Or hyper-multiplied and compoundedly expressed presences transform or emerge into events and experiences, sensations and awareness - cogent feelings.  Life.

Well, maybe we are a little closer to it.  But we have to shift our old line thinkings in order to get there. 

That's what the Integrity Paradigm is about. Breaking ranks with the old thought lines ... even the ones dressed up in modern clothing.   

Let me ask you something.  Do you believe in 'spontaneous generation'?   The notion that piles of dung and dirt can suddenly produce viable active living creatures, totally more complex than the dirt and dung?   That's what science considered as possible up until the 18th century.  Flies miraculously 'spontaneously generated' from piles of garbage and filth, once upon a time.  Until non-obvious processes were shown to be present, of course. So that now, today, 'spontaneous generation' is considered a curious mythos of a humanity which didn't yet recognize the underscoring principles and processes of how life gets enacted.

The peculiar thing is though, that spontaneous generation is a well cleaved to and generally held belief world wide these days.  Right in the hallowed halls of science and clear reasoning.  It goes by some clever new names even though its the same old dynamics cloaked in new math and therefore new mysteries.   Among other things, its called 'autocatalysis' and 'autopoesis' and 'self-assembling systems'.

And I lost most of you right there, right at the punctuation mark ending that sentence.   I've just stood and stared you in the face and said that these most newest and cherished, clever, inventive, 'self' affirming notions related to freedom and volition and free-will .. 'proof' of our inherent self-ness and identity and independence in a wildly densely populated universe .. aren't the 'verity' we so vocally, boisterously - and happily - claim.

Yes, that's correct.  It was 'spontaneous generation' then.  And its 'spontaneous generation' now.  And no amount of mathematical 'proof' vending will make it otherwise.   "Emergence" is a rare and special process - but it is sensual and tangible, not, mythic or mysterious.

You see, it is the nature and quality of the universe's dimensional architecture which produced us - and all the transductive processes of complexity building that were intermediate along the way - including our propensity to always identify with and cling to relations/notions that affirm our individuality amongst the extended and collectively 'always connected and mutually involved' universe .. which we are never separated from.  Ever.  At all.   I have said it before and I strongly affirm it again, we are not simply 'star stuff' (Sagan), we are not simply 'at home in the universe' (Kauffman).     We are the Universe experiencing and understanding itself ().

The deep originating forms and forces of pure dimensional architecture are the source of the qualities we see in ourselves and of the behaviors of organisms and organizations of the world.   Unavoidably, we are wholly connected products, even while we enact 'self' and individuality and free will  .. 'unique identity'. 

We embrace boot-strap notions because they stroke our egos .. more than they absolutely reflect certain conditions of true processes . And - this being the most difficult proposition to accept - we are designed to like and embrace broad boot-strap style notions as truth whether they are or not. We admire 'self-creation', absolute personal volition.    We flirt with variations of 'spontaneous generation' because they give name and identity to causal-source.  They make us, in some small way, as inventive as Spirit and AllCreation. 

The word of the day is ... Beautiful.  All the involvements.  All the twined complicatedness.  All the expressions and experiences of Being.     It is all ... Beautiful.    We don't have to be perfectly isolated, perfectly independent.  We don't have to be.  Our placeness in time and eternity is in the Beauty of being With as much as it is in the being Apart.  We are product and volition together.  Even though part of our instinct, part of our inseparably innate motive/architecture for behaviors, prompts us to often conceive/feel otherwise.
